One thing I can bake with my eyes closed are brownies. Not only can I bake them with my eyes closed, but I can eat them just as well. Brownies have that special characteristic that will satisfy that “cake craving” (cause you know we all have cake cravings!), but can be treated as an on-the-go snack without having to go through the whole formality of cake (you know, plate and fork.)
They can also be adapted to your liking, creating “healthy” brownies with whole wheat flours or making Christmas brownies by adding crushed candy canes. Today, we’ll be making some Holiday Spice Brownies, with spices from one of the most complete online spice sites in the world, My Spice Sage!
Why My Spice Sage? Not only are they one of the most gracious and funnest brands to tweet with (@myspicesage), the products they offer are some of the best. Their spices are “ground cryogenically at sub-zero temperatures to maintain 100% of their flavor.” Which means that they’re not heated when ground, which diminishes their flavor. Another great thing is that they sell spices and herbs in different sized packages, starting at 1 ounce and going up to even 50 pounds in bulk prices. Check them out for your spice & herb needs!
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Melt chopped chocolate and butter over a double boiler, careful not to burn the sides.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, salt, spices, vanilla, coffee and eggs. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Add flour and stir until incorporated. Spread in an 8×8 inch pan that has been previously greased and bake for 20-30 minutes.
- Cool and dust with spiced powdered sugar. Cut into squares and enjoy!
Disclaimer: I received free spices from My Spice Sage, but was under no obligation to write a positive post. This is just me, wanting to share with you, an amazing product and even better company!
