If you’re planning a trip to San Francisco, make sure to book a room at the Mystic Hotel by Charlie Palmer – read below and you’ll find out why it’s a favorite!
After a crazy summer season on Martha’s Vineyard, the husband and I decided we deserved a trip to the West Coast. Planned around our trip to Napa Valley, we decided that San Francisco was the best place to start our trip. After careful research, we decided to book our room at the Mystic Hotel by Charlie Palmer.
A sleek and modern boutique hotel in the heart of San Francisco’s busiest neighborhoods, the Mystic Hotel is conveniently located just one block from iconic cable car line and smack middle of Union Square, China Town, and the Financial District. Location wise, it’s the best you can get! We were able to get around the city quite easily and it was great having a centrally located hotel to rest our heads at night.
When you walk into the hotel, you’re welcomed with crisp colors and lines from the paintings, the furniture, the walls. During our November 2014 visit, the hotel was exhibiting the artwork of Joanna Baruch, an oil painter who’s latest work called Cosmos captivated me for it’s shine and brilliance. Baruch paints on aluminum sheets with oil pains, creating a technique unlike any I’ve ever seen.
Aside from the deep connection to artists that the hotel has, what captivated us the most were the unique, chef-drive culinary experiences they offered, as well as their restaurant offerings, Burritt Room + Tavern. Once in our room, a cheese platter welcomed us – what better way to welcome a foodie guest than with gorgeous cheeses and fruits, alongside a handwritten note?
Whenever we travel to a big city like Boston, New York, and in this occasion, San Francisco, we try to stay at a hotel that’s close enough to the action but not smack in the middle of it. Easy access to public transportation is an added bonus, which the Mystic Hotel of course had.
The decor of the room was minimalist, with gorgeous brick exposure and oversized bay windows. Plush bedding and fluffy pillows, as seen below, gave us the rest we needed after walking up and down the steep, hilly sidewalks of the city. The room and hotel amenities abound, including: complimentary breakfast each morning (the vegetable quiches were divine!), Starbucks Reserve coffee program, complimentary wireless internet access (a must in any traveler’s list!), and an honor bar stock with locally sourced snacks and spirits.
Tucked in front of the brick exposed wall was a gorgeous desk and chair, which is always a welcome addition to any room, but the artistic decor of this one made it seem extra special. Various mornings I brought coffee back into the room and sat at the desk while looking out the window and wrote + caught up with work while the hubs slept a little extra.
Another thing on my traveler’s must have list is good bathroom toiletries. By good, I mean nothing filled with preservatives, artificial colorings, etc. So I was happy to discover that the Mystic Hotel stocks their guest bathrooms with the BeeKind collection, a set with a fresh lemon verbena fragrance and extracts of honey and certified organic chamomile and lemongrass extracts, which made my skin happy after long days walking around San Francisco.
So, if you’re traveling to San Francisco anytime in 2015 or beyond, consider the Mystic Hotel by Charlie Palmer and you won’t be disappointed.
The gorgeous hotel, the comfortable guest rooms, and the delicious restaurant (more to come on the food soon!), it’s the best option.
Disclaimer: Mystic Hotel offered us media rates for this stay, for which we are grateful for. Either way, I recommend this hotel 100% if you’re staying in San Francisco!
Any hotel that gives you a cheese platter is the perfect hotel in my book! Also, that bed looks so comfy!
