Ever wanted to subscribe to foodie subscription boxes? Today I’m introducing you to one of my favorites, Hamptons Lane!
A couple of months ago (June 2014) we received a sample of the Hamptons Lane subscription box, with the theme of “gourmet picnic”. They rounded up a selection of essentials you needed to create the best picnic experience! Read below to see what was inside the box and some suggestions on how to use each item.
Product: Fig & Onion Jam by Anarchy in a Jar
If your cheeseboard ever needed a fruit jam, this is THE jam it needs. Sweet onions, figs, rosemary, balsamic vinegar, orange zest, and spices blend together to make this out-of-this-world jam that was a favorite on brie and Taleggio. This jam makes you have a cheeseboard for dinner, every night of the week!
Product: Meaux Mustard by Pommery
I discovered this mustard for the first time while studying at the Culinary Institute of America. It was the mustard of choice and came in huge ceramic containers. This is the mini version and some of the best mustard you can have in your kitchen. It’s been served at French king’s tables since 1632 – so you KNOW how real it is. A top secret recipe makes this mustard unlike any other.
Product: Jalapeño Bread and Butter Pickles by Backyard Brine
The pickle lover in the house is my husband and he fell head over heels with these! So in love, I was almost a tad jealous for a second. Blended with vermont maple syrup, these are perfect for people like us that love a touch of sweet in their savory sandwiches. A must have for any end of summer cookout or picnic.
Product: American Flag Wine Tote by Tote + Able
A canvas tote bag, made in the USA, that can actually carry a FULL wine bottle in it?! Genius, I tell you. Their mission statement of “We live locally and think globally” is one to stand by, since they are creating jobs in America, making a fantastic product. This is not only great for wine, but to keep hydrated on long hikes or at the beach. Even better, to save on all those disposable cups we use at barbecues!
Product: Custom Olive wood & Carbon Steel Knife by Pallares-Solsona
Made by third-generation knife makers, this particular one is set in olive wood and has a carbon steel blade. It’s seriously increibly sharp but as with all carbon steel blades, you need to keep and store it SUPER DRY or it will immediately start rusting. The perfect knife for cutting fruit, cheese, or even bread!
