As with every month, today I’m sharing some new products that have impressed me in the kitchen, that have saved me time in the kitchen, and that have created in me a fan for life! Thanks for check them out and supporting the brands that make this possible! Welcome to this month’s New This Month.
Sun Dried Tomato Halves by Bella Sun Luci
These tomato halves by Bella Sun Luci should be renamed “flavor boosters”! Because honestly, that’s what they really are! Add them to anything and everything and the flavor it brings to your dish is impressive. Another product that blew me away from this brand? Their bruschetta with basil – I ate it straight from the jar with a spoon, that’s how luscious it is! It’s sweet, salty, savory, herby! I could buy a case of this and wouldn’t blink an eye. That’s how good this was. We used this in everything from slathering it on chicken breasts to folding it into mashed potatoes. It also adds tons of depth to your pasta sauces.
Non-fat Greek Yogurt by Maia
The only strained Greek yogurt with natural cane sugar, superior probiotic levels, prebiotic fiber and nutrients, Maia yogurt is a new to me yogurt that I’m currently loving. It’s super rich and thick in texture, which I adore. It makes my smoothies smooth and adds good for me stuff in the easiest of ways! What I love the most about them is their simplicity and how they started. In the founder’s kitchen and using only a double boiler, a heating pad, a beach towel, and random kitchen tools, Maia came to life.
New soups by Pacific Natural Foods
I’ve got to give props to these soups – they always save us when we’re too tired to cook and need to eat. Hearty when served with a side of buttered toast, it’s total comfort food. Organic Vegetable Lentil & Roasted Red Pepper Soup – Reduced Sodium is protein packed with one of my favorite legumes, lentils! Organic Spicy Black Bean and Kale Soup is a soup I could eat every day! After moving to MV, kale has become such a huge part of our soup making, specially kale and Portuguese sausage. This soup from Pacific Foods is delicious (and we add some chopped Portuguese sausage to make it even better!)
Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce by Dave’s Gourmet
A couple years ago, this sauce won “best pasta sauce” at the New York Fancy Food Show and it definitely deserved it! Made with squash ripped in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, it’s blended with fresh garlic, onions and roasted red pepper, creating an amazing flavor sensation in your mouth. The sweet squash lends a uniquely smooth texture to the sauce. We’ve added it to not only pasta, but sweet potato puree, slathered a pork tenderloin with it, and added some half and half for a quick soup.
RealSticks by Vermont Smoke and Cure
The big cured meat eater at our house is my husband and he consumed these RealSticks in the blink of an eye! We love that RealSticks are made with natural meats! The Natural Beef is from Pineland Farms Natural Meats in Maine and the Natural Pork is from DuBreton in Quebec or from Coleman Natural Meats. My hubby’s favorite? The ancho!
Soberdough Brew Bread
Probably the easiest bread mix, this Soberdough (don’t you just LOVE the name!?) is the perfect hostess gift if you hostess is a beer loving baker! We received this in an Eat Boutique box and quickly made it. Awesome when slathered with butter straight from the oven!
Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cake
Ever wanted to experience the Caribbean in one bite? This rum cake will take you there! And you’ll get a little drunk on the way, for sure. Joking aside, these cakes have a tender crumb and are incredibly moist. Topped with imported walnuts, they are then each glazed with a special 5-year-old, oak barrel aged Tortuga Gold Rum.
Cheese Straws by Flathau’s Fine Foods
These little babies by Flathau’s are so terribly addictive! A Southern favorite spiced with a touch of chipotle pepper, they go perfectly on a cheese platter or just as a mid-afternoon snack!

The Maia yogurt is fantastic. I love the fact that it’s not candy sweet and the texture is like New York Cheesecake. 25 Billion probiotics, non-GMO…delish, and really nice people make it:)
I was hooting at the screen as I read this because there are several items that caught my eye. Most notably the rum cakes. We had them (and I even brought one home) when we were in the Cayman Islands this past February. They are SOOooooo good. I wish I had another one. Great line-up.
I’ve had my eye on Dave’s butternut squash sauce for the past year. EVERY time I go to World Market I want to try it, and EVERY time I end up over budget and put it back on the shelf, thinking that I’ll just make up my own at home….which I never do. I’m such a slacker! LOL
