Today, I wanted to share some of my favorite food items this season. They’re either holiday inspired or perfect for the crisp weather that we’re getting on the East coast. Check out the links to their sites and discover some (hopefully!) new to you products!
1. Organic Blue Agave (Cinnamon) from Wholesome Sweeteners
This agave syrup is seriously going into anything and everything I eat. It’s amazing over warm waffles and even better when you add it to mulled cider. A hint of cinnamon in the sweet agave brings out such warmth that it just screams out fall favorite. Why agave? It’s a product of the agave plant (also known for tequila production) and doesn’t go through a ton of processing (like high fructose corn syrup).
2. Hibiscus Flowers in Rose Syrup from Wild Hibiscus Company
Hibiscus is not only a great holiday item, but it’s becoming such a trend in the culinary world and I’m seeing it in appetizers, drinks, and desserts all over. These flowers originate in Australia, where they are harvested and packed in a mixture of cane sugar, water, and rose oil. Perfect hostess gift with a bottle of champagne.
3. Honey Roasted Apple Cinnamon Salsa from Texas Brew
Sure, you can dip your chips in this salsa and call it a day. But you can do SO much more with is! Roasted tomatoes and apples pair up with chipotle and habanero peppers, as well as other spices, to create this salsa. The cinnamon in it is what allows this to be a savory or sweet item – a great addition to a baked Brie cheese or swirled into your hummus.
4. Sweet Potato Heritage Camote Flour from Gourmet Delights
Well, obviously sweet potatoes are a must for the holiday table, but this flour will have you eating sweet potatoes in a whole different way! I can’t wait to make sweet potato biscuits with this and top them with a honey maple glaze. Heck, it’s the holidays!
5. Be Smooth Smoothie Mix from Not Your Sugar Mamas
Some mornings, not even the steaming hot coffee can get me going, so I look to Not Your Sugar Mamas to help. A local company on Martha’s Vineyard, NYSM is a company I love standing by – their core values of raw, unadultered chocolate is one a love. And when they DO add stuff to their chocolate, and in this case, their mixes, it’s good for you stuff like spriluina (a nutrient dense blue green algae) and maca (an adaptagenic herb that increases your endurance and helps balance hormones).
6. Organic Pure Maple Sugar from Coombs Family Farms
If you’re into baking during the holidays (and who isn’t?!), this sugar is a great addition to your pantry. And you can say it’s healthy because it has natural occurring minerals like potassium and calcium, things that aren’t present in highly processed white sugar. Sprinkled over cookies before baking or added to a marinade for pork, it’s a must have this fall!
7. Herbal Coffee from Teeccino
Herbal Coffee sounds crazy huh? But it’s really not. For those of you that can’t sleep if you have coffee after 3pm, this might just be the solution! It’s a smooth and soft coffee flavor with no bitterness. Great for a mid-afternoon break!
8. Rosemary Mayonnaise from Empire Mayo
The holidays are all about potato salad, at least in my family. And this Rosemary Mayonnaise from Empire Mayo is THE mayo to use for a fall potato salad. Toss in some roasted carrots and you’re setting the stage for a perfect meal. Based out of Brooklyn, NY.
9. Jalapeno, Apricot and Wildflower Honey Jam from Sunchowder’s Emporia
Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m in love with Wendy’s jams. Seriously, they are that amazing. And the fact that they don’t have anything artificial blows my mind, reminding myself that nature DOES taste that awesome. This particular jam is fantastic when used as a glaze for salmon!
Disclosure: Photos direct from producers website. Also, some of these products were sent as samples to me and I loved them so much I decided to share. I was under no obligation to write about them!
Lots of great finds here, and how have I not heard of sweet potato flour before??? Definitely trying that one! Plus the rosemary mayo sounds tasty too!
Great suggestions. I’ll have to crank up my wish list for my next goody box from the states. 🙂
Some great stuff here. The mayonnaise intrigues me.
Great fall picks you got there 🙂
