Nothing says New England more than Clam Chowder! Like we’ve stated before, Sizzling Skillets is a cookbook with a wide range of flavors, so everything from Thai Curry to New England Clam Chowder, is present in the book! Visiting Martha’s Vineyard, fresh seafood is in every corner, every beach, every local market! Scallops, lobster, clams, oysters…Oh the oysters! Every restaurant has their raw oyster platter, and some even have raw oyster bars to enjoy! Below is an example of the love of fish and shellfish in New England!

New England Extremes! Lobster Salad, Rolls, Shrimp Cocktail and Shellfish!

“New England-Style Fish and Shellfish Chowder” is cooked in a slow cooker, but you can cook it in a large pot and just eyed the progress slowly. Traditionally, chowder is based on cooking potatoes, bacon, onion, garlic, celery and a few spices such as thyme and pepper. The liquid comes as clam stock and heavy cream, cooked down with the previous ingredients and the shellfish and fish is added at the end to keep it tender and not overcooked. I suggest adding the potatoes halfway through the simmering, as to not make them mushy. Potatoes in chowder should still have a bite to them! Emeril’s recipe is simple and easy to follow; use a white fish such as Cod or Halibut, so it keeps its texture and shape!

The past three weeks have been filled with great recipes, but the best part? Getting to know so many great food bloggers and learning something new from each and every of their posts. The food community became a tighter knit group, learning from our mistakes and advising each other on what to make!

To celebrate the end of the great 3-week Blogger Cooking Party, thanks to the courtesy of Morrow Cookbooks, we’re giving away a brand-new copy of Sizzling Skillets and One-Pot Wonder cookbook by Emeril Lagasse! You’ll be able to cook all these delicious recipes at home, recreating and being inspired by the vast array of recipes.

    1. Now, the first question is going to be hard for me. Cooking for someone like him, someone I have watched thru ‘Food Network’ for so many years, someone I admire is hard and it would be stressful. But, being whom I am I would give try to make pizza. It’s simple and at the same time is something we should not overrate.

(I saw him making sweet pizza one time and fell for how delicous and healthy he made them look)

    2. Who doesn’t love one-pot meals, especially fabulous ones and I bet this book is filled with some really great flavors and dishes!

    3. Cooking for Emeril would be a stressor for sure. I would create one of his recipes for feedback and improving my own cooking skill.
