Exploring Boston with two young nieces and my sister-in-law was an unforgettable adventure. From its rich history to its kid-friendly attractions, Boston is the perfect destination for a family getaway, and staying at the Omni Parker House Hotel in downtown Boston was the cherry on top of our trip.

A Stay at the Omni Parker House Hotel
We checked into the Omni Parker House Hotel, which is perfectly located in downtown Boston, making it an ideal base for exploring the city’s top attractions. The hotel was not only beautiful and full of history, but it was also incredibly family-friendly. Upon arrival, my nieces were thrilled to receive a special Junior Chef bag of treats. This thoughtful gesture included fun snacks and activities, instantly making the kids feel welcome. It’s always great to find a place that goes the extra mile to make young guests feel special.
Another standout feature of the hotel is its partnership with Feeding America. For every stay, the Omni Parker House donates a meal to a family in need, which made our stay feel even more meaningful. It’s reassuring to know that while enjoying our family vacation, we were also contributing to a larger cause.
One of the highlights of staying at the Omni Parker House was that one of their family packages includes tickets to the New England Aquarium, which was our first adventure after settling in.
New England Aquarium
Located on the historic Boston waterfront, the New England Aquarium was a huge hit with my nieces. They were mesmerized by the Giant Ocean Tank, which housed sea turtles, stingrays, and hundreds of tropical fish. My sister-in-law and I were equally fascinated, especially when we had the chance to see the penguins up close. We spent about two hours exploring the exhibits, and the kids loved the hands-on experience of the touch tanks, where they got to feel starfish and stingrays. The aquarium’s focus on marine conservation was both educational and inspiring.
Boston Children’s Museum
The next stop on our itinerary was the Boston Children’s Museum, a short Uber drive from the hotel. This place is a wonderland for kids, with interactive exhibits that kept my nieces entertained for hours. My sister-in-law and I appreciated the museum’s focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), and we even found ourselves getting involved in some of the activities. The museum’s emphasis on hands-on learning is perfect for kids who love to explore, experiment, and create. You can honestly spend over three hours here, so make sure you have a plan for lunch right after, because the kids were starving!
Exploring Boston Common and Public Garden
After a day filled with indoor activities, we decided to head outdoors to Boston Common and the Public Garden. Boston Common is the oldest public park in the United States, and the kids had a blast running around the open spaces and riding on the historic Swan Boats in the Public Garden’s lagoon. The park’s Frog Pond was another highlight, where the girls enjoyed splashing around and cooling off on a warm afternoon.
Wrapping Up the Trip
Our Boston adventure with my nieces and sister-in-law was the perfect blend of education, fun, and relaxation. Staying at the Omni Parker House Hotel made our trip even more special with its thoughtful amenities for kids and its central location. Whether it was the magical underwater world of the aquarium, the hands-on learning at the Children’s Museum, or simply enjoying the beauty of Boston’s parks, there was never a dull moment. I highly recommend Boston for a family vacation, and the Omni Parker House is the ideal place to stay while you explore all the city has to offer.
