Traveling to Martha’s Vineyard this summer? As one of the most popular vacation destinations on Cape Cod and the Islands, here’s a list of the best places to have lunch while on MV. Whether you’re looking for seafood, vegetarian, or just affordable – I’ve got you covered with options and ideas!

Where to Eat Lunch on Martha's VineyardAs a food writer on Martha’s Vineyard, I tend to eat out about 3-4 times a week. Finding the next best thing on this island is a fun task and one I enjoy. Since summer is about to kick off and visitors are soon to overtake the island, I wanted to put a list together of some of my favorite spots for lunch on Martha’s Vineyard. Hungry for lunch? Keep reading!

Little House Cafe, 339 State Road, Vineyard Haven

If you’re looking for some incredible fish tacos, Little House Cafe is just the spot. Granted, it’s not on the water, so you might want to save these for a rainy day, but as soon as you take a bite of these, you’ll be transported to a beach shack. The fish is crispy and delicious topped with cabbage slaw, salsa fresca, and avocado – everything you need for a perfect taco. They’re also HUGE, so make sure you come hungry!

Tropical Restaurant, 13 Beach Street, Vineyard Haven

Sure, visiting the island you’ll want your fair share of seafood and chowder, but if you want to step out of your comfort zone, dive into the buffet at Tropical Restaurant, a Brazilian family-owned restaurant on island that makes some delicious and affordable food. The island has a large population of Brazilians that immigrated over decades ago, families becoming part of the island tapestry and along with their gorgeous language, they brought over their ever delicious food. It’s sold by the pound, so you can control the portions and choose what you want on your plate!

The Barn, Bowl, & Bistro, 13 Uncas Ave, Oak Bluffs

If you’ve never considered dining at a bowling alley, The Barn in Oak Bluffs will change your mind. Martha’s Vineyard’s one and only bowling alley, it’s also the home to a delicious restaurant that serves lunch and dinner daily, with some incredible specials. My favorite items to order from their menu includes the turkey club (pictured below), the pork and lemongrass dumplings, and the vegetarian burger. A great idea for a meal when it’s a rainy day on Martha’s Vineyard and you’re looking for something affordable and fun to do with the family!

Not Your Sugar Mamas Organic Cafe, 79 Beach Road, Unit #16, Vineyard Haven

What the ladies of NYSM have achieved is incredible – I remember the first time I wrote about them, they were making chocolate bars in the kitchen of their parents home and now they are a brand that can be found all over the US at Whole Foods around the nation! Lucky us, they are based out of this little New England island and now serve up some of the best vegan, gluten free, dairy free food. If you’re traveling to Martha’s Vineyard with some lifestyle or dietary restrictions, this is the place to be. From superfood smoothies to grain bowls, along with some incredible soups, rice bowls and more, it’s a food lover’s dream.

Nat’s Nook Martha’s Vineyard, 38 Main St, Vineyard Haven

Some places embody the two things you’re looking for: good food in a lovely environment. Nat’s Nook does that in such a stellar way, I wish I could just write from there every day of the week. Their offerings are based on crepes, both sweet and savory, along with other items. But their crepes – oh goodness, they are so light, so flavorful, so delicious – don’t skip the crepes! It’s the ideal spot for catching up with a good friend over one of their specialty coffees, as well as a great place for grabbing a quick bite. But it won’t be that quick because the nook draws you in, making you want to relax for hours on end.

Where to Eat Lunch on Martha's Vineyard

Copper Wok, 9 Main Street, Vineyard Haven

Living on an island year round makes for a lot of food cravings, mostly Asian foods. There’s no delivery on island, but the best takeout (and eat in) Asian food you can get is from Copper Wok. It’s described as “Pan Asian”, with a good variety of traditional Chinese favorites, along with Japanese sushi made fresh to order. The Chinese dishes are cooked up by a team of Chinese chefs that have decades of experience in Asian cookery, so what you’ll get will be as authentic as can be. They are also extremely accommodating to your needs, so this is not only great for date night in, but perfect to bring the entire family for a vacation celebration!

Slice of Life, 50 Circuit Avenue, Oak Bluffs

I know I know. If you’re visiting New England, the last thing you would order from a menu is a Fried Green Tomato sandwich, but I promise you this sandwich is comparable to the best lobster you can have on island. Fried green tomatoes, bacon, pesto, baby arugula, and balsamic reduction on a grilled ciabatta roll – take the bacon away and you’ve got the best vegetarian sandwich on Martha’s Vineyard for sure! The fried green tomatoes are a Southern staple, but this family restaurant in Oak Bluffs really sets itself apart by creating items like this – plus, it’s a relaxing atmosphere whether you’re grabbing a quick sandwich before the beach or decide to dine out and try their dinner menu. Both great ideas, but promise me you won’t miss the sandwich?

Coop de Ville, 12 Circuit Avenue Ext, Oak Bluffs (OB Harbor)

You can’t come to Martha’s Vineyard and not have seafood and what better place than Coop de Ville?! This spot is a local favorite, right on the harbor of Oak Bluffs so even if you live on island year round, you feel like you’re on vacation any time you eat here. And what’s there to eat? Well just some of the best seafood like steamers (pictured below), lobster dinners, stuffed quahogs, fried shrimp, and so much more. Plus their beer selection is quite impressive, so it’s the ideal vacation spot when you visit.
