Coffee has been part of my life since I was a small child in a Caribbean household. Today, I’m sharing my latest obsession, a coffee that is dairy and refined-sugar free, yet tastes like an incredibly frothy, creamy latte. Meet the health-packed Cinnamon Cashew Latte.

Cinnamon Cashew Latte recipe

Today, I’m recreating for you a latte I had last summer on Martha’s Vineyard at the ever so popular, Not Your Sugar Mamas Organic Cafe. Popular enough I wrote about it in my food column for the Martha’s Vineyard Times and to get started, here’s a bit of what I said:

It was basically the best latte I’ve ever had, with no dairy or processed sugars. Cashews blend into a creamy dairy substitute, while the dates add that sweetness we all crave madly. It’s rich and creamy, strong in coffee flavor, with a silky mouth feel — everything I want in a latte, only healthier. – MV Times

If you’re looking for probably the most delicious way to start your day, this Cinnamon Cashew Latte is it. It does take some minimal preparation the night before, because you’ll be soaking the cashews and dates overnight, but other than that it’s like making your regular cup of coffee in the morning and placing it all in a blender to whip up into a frothy, creamy concoction.

You’ll be in shock the moment you take the first sip. It’s rich, thanks to the healthy fats in the cashews and naturally sweet, thanks to the plump dates. The health benefits of both cashews and dates are endless, so make sure to do some research and feel good about drinking this early morning!
