Easy Brunch Ideas: DIY Yogurt Bar

Easy brunch ideas like a do-it-yourself yogurt bar are a fun, interactive way to celebrate Mother’s Day.  It’s simple, delicious, and looks like you spent lots of time to make – but you didn’t!

Nothing makes me more excited than hosting friends and family over for a meal, specially if it’s for a special occasion like the upcoming Mother’s Day. Thankfully, this Mother’s Day I’ll be traveling to see my own mom in the Dominican Republic, so we will be able to spend this day together. Along with some gifts for her, I’m traveling with some other goodies to recreate one of my easy brunch ideas – a DIY brunch yogurt bar at home, thanks to the help from Wine Glass Writer.

These gorgeous wine glass markers are what made this DIY Brunch Bar one of the best easy brunch ideas ever. They’re a lovely way to label ingredients at a brunch, don’t you agree?

Made with a specially-formulated non-toxic ink, Wine Glass Writer can be used on glass and glazed ceramics – so it’s totally fine if your cheese touch the ink, it’s non-toxic! I used the wine glass writers to make sure my guests knew what was in each jar, from granola to nuts and seeds, everything was labeled in an environmentally friendly way. I mention the environment because sometimes using paper labels is just such  waste of time and material!

Now let’s talk about this spread, which I don’t really even have a recipe to give you, just a few tips:

  • You’re going to need yogurt, since it is a yogurt bar! Personally, I love Stonyfield and any of their vanilla yogurts work best since it’s a neutral flavor to pair with all the add-ons.
  • Jams & Jellies: Nothing looks tastier than a swirl of your favorite jam or jelly in this yogurt bar, so make sure to offer a variety. You can see that I choose a triple berry jam and an orange marmalade, perfect for a spring affair!
  • Fresh Fruit: You will want to have some juicy fresh fruit, and I like to keep it simple with berries since they are in season now. I also had a jar of cherries – those are always fun!
  • Seeds & Nuts: texture is the name of the game and seeds and nuts always add great crunch to yogurt parfaits. Think chia seeds, flax seeds, and pecans or walnuts!
  • Granola: you can purchase some of your favorite granola or make your own like my apple cinnamon granola recipe.
  • Extras like dried crunchy freeze dried fruit or aromatic lavender buds are always a great idea.

Apparently I really need to branch out, because I’ve never added or considered adding 75% of these things to yogurt! LOL
