This blog started because I wanted a space to share the things I love the most, which are cooking and books. That’s where the name for the blog came about, and since then I’ve read and cooked from some amazing cookbooks, some shared on the blog and others shared with friends and family.

This week will be a different week for Cooking with Books. M. and I are visiting Chicago for some much needed foodie adventure and I didn’t want to leave all the readers on a standstill. So for the next 6 days, you’ll be reading about new books out this Fall, as well as some of the fantastic recipes in them. Here’s a preview of the books you’ll read about:

Now, if you know any must-eats in Chicago, give us a heads-up! We’d love to discover any Chicago-based jewels. Have fun reading what I’ve been reading lately, enjoy the recipes and cookbook reviews and keep sharing the love of food! Also, keep checking back the following days because I’ll be giving away one of the above books! Which one would YOU love to win?

You’ve still got time to donate to “Bloggers Unite for Africa” over at La Casa de Sweets! Contributing $10 will help a family of 5 have water for an entire month, plus you’ll be entered to win great prizes such as King Arthur Flour gift card, cookbooks, homemade treats and so much more! Please consider donating or sharing this link!

  1. Can I answer “all” to that question? LOL! So excited to see the fun giveaways:-) Have fun in Chicago! Hugs, Terra

  2. What a great giveaway! I’d take any of them, but Comfort Food Fix would be especially great. Have fun in Chicago!

  3. Franks ‘n’ Dawgs on Clybourn in Lincoln Park is amazing – hand-made sausages (better than Hot Doug’s!) And Lula Cafe in Logan Square is one of my faves for creative, delicious local/seasonal fare. Have a fantastic time in the Windy City!

  4. I just picked up Rustic Italian recently. Love it! I’m excited to hear about the professional chef. Love the tomato shot on the cover. I’m totally someone that buys books based off the cover. 🙂

  5. There’s a few places in Chicago that we would love to check out: Hot Dougs for sausages, Kuma’s Korner for crazy burgers, and of course Frontera. Have fun!

  6. I think I’d love to peek inside Sunday Roasts! I have fond memories of coming home from church on Sundays and the smell of Sunday dinner was intoxicating. My mom always put something special in the oven before leaving for services Sunday morning. Mmmm….

    Have a blast in Chi-town!
