A summer favorite, this Blueberry Buttermilk ice cream is the perfect balance of tart and sweet!
  • 1½ cups blueberries
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons red wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  1. Simmer the blueberries with the water until they burst. Cook until the water evaporates and the berry juice thickens. Set aside.
  2. In a separate sauce pan, simmer the heavy cream and butter milk.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Slowly whisk in the cream mixture and bring back to the stove top. Whisk until mixture is thick and coats the back of a spoon.
  4. Add the red wine, lemon juice, and berry mixture. Chill overnight.
  5. Run through ice cream machine as instructions advise. Eat ice cream!
