Los Poblanos Inn, located in historic Albuquerque, New Mexico, has charm, gorgeous scenic sights, and a restaurant with delicious food.

It takes a special kind of place to turn your life upside down and have you looking at homes for sale in the area. That’s how badly I wanted to move to Albuquerque after staying at Los Poblanos Inn!

Discovering new places is what I live for. Even as a food writer, travel sometimes gets me more excited than the food itself. That’s how I felt about my first visit to historic Albuquerque, New Mexico. And when you combine my love of food, travel, and green beauty – can you just say HEAVEN?!

Los Poblanos Inn is tucked in with 25 acres of lush lavender fields. With just 20 rooms in this historic inn, it feels like a dream just walking through the grounds. As we drove onto the property, the tall cottonwoods welcomed us into this oasis. As the manager of the hotel personally walked me over to my room, I knew this would be a place to write home about.

Some hotels offer great amenities, but tend to forget about the simple details. Los Poblanos Inn is not one of those establishments. Every room is styled with classic New Mexican artwork, hardwood floors and gorgeous tiles, carved ceiling beams, and wood-burning fireplaces. Can we just talk about the fireplaces for a minute? Each room has a basket filled with piñon, a local wood of the area that permeates the night when all the fireplaces are going – and the basket is refreshed every morning with fresh wood, meaning a cozy, roaring fire is a nightly goal.

My room was tucked in-between the greenhouse and had it’s own private little patio, where I sipped my morning organic Lavender and Chamomile tea. A serene way to wake up, I savored those moments of peace and quiet. One special morning as I was curled up on one of the lounge chairs, “Tater Tot”, the official cat of Los Poblanos Inn, curled up beside me. If this isn’t heaven, what is?!

A favorite amenity of mine were the lavender bath products (made on property) as well as the luxury bed & bath linens by Curran NY and Coyuchi Organic. These details did not go unnoticed and before heading back home, I shopped their farm shop for lavender shampoo, lavender conditioner, culinary lavender, and lavender lotion to take a little bit of Los Poblanos Inn home with me.

I ended up making lavender French madeleines with the culinary lavender. You’ve got to check out the recipe. They’re so delicious!

As a guest of the Inn, each room also has the option of coming in for their farm to table organic breakfast every morning during your stay. Please, do not miss breakfast at Los Poblanos! Our schedule at times wouldn’t fit in a breakfast at the inn, to which my darling new friends and I would wake up up to two hours before the official day started just to get in this breakfast. Starting with local teas and coffee served with organic dairy products, as well as freshly squeezed orange and apple juices, you enter  their breakfast room and take a seat.

Carlos, our serve for the morning, was probably the most delightful server I’ve ever experienced and went above and beyond our expectations. Each morning two breakfast entrees are offered, along with a traditional breakfast of eggs. To kick off the meal, Carlos brings over fresh pastries and fruit – the perfect start to any meal. After that, our entrees (which changed daily) were served – eggs Benedict alongside blue cornbread, pancake puffs with apple compote, shakshuka serve with housemate sourdough bread – the creativity that Chef Jonathan Perno executes is quite impressive!

If you’re planning a visit to Albuquerque, I think a stay at Los Poblanos Inn is a must. Relaxing ambiance, great attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and so much more I can’t put into words. Take note – their chef also runs cooking classes throughout the year, so that would be a fun addition to a stay at the Inn. And as Su Casa Magazine once put it: “One could spend a lifetime at Los Poblanos and never fall out of love.” I certainly agree…
