Whenever I want to see my husband smile, all I have to do is make pizza for dinner! Basically, I married a pizza addict – a lover of cheese, a crust enthusiast, a saucy fanatic. Twice a month, we get into the kitchen and make about 4-6 batches of pizza dough. We’ll mix, knead, and roll the dough, which later we freeze into portions! Making our favorite meals together bring us closer as a couple and we think that’s what makes us such a Saucesome couple. Ragú® is recognizing and celebrating everything that makes family mealtime Saucesome. From unique recipes to silly moments to pizza Fridays, it’s all Saucesome with the delicious help of Ragú® sauce, which makes us excited to use their products even more.

During the making of the dough, we’ll also simmer some Ragú® sauce and add fresh herbs and a hint of red pepper flakes – we’re spice lovers, that’s for sure!

Both my husband and I come from culinary backgrounds, having cooked in professional kitchens for years (my husband still does) and when people ask us what we eat at home, they’re surprised when we mention premade products like Ragú® – but we quickly explain to them two things: 1) Ragú® has the Authentic Italian taste, American families love with a variety of great tasting, quick and easy to make family favorite recipes and serves as a great base for more complex dishes; and 2) using a pre-made sauce saves us so much time! The Ragú® Old World Style® Marinara Sauce has a taste your entire family will love, whether you have 4 children or it’s just you and your husband/wife!

This pizza is in homage to our current zip code (02539) on Martha’s Vineyard (and the place we fell in love & got married on!). An island off the coast of Massachusetts filled with New England cookery but where you can find Portuguese and Brazilian influences all over. On the island, the classic Portuguese Kale soup is a daily special at many restaurants and my husband & I thought it’d be a great idea to combine our favorite soup recipe and the Ragú® Garden Style Pizza recipe to create a unique spin and turn it into our now favorite pizza! A twist on a traditional dish we love, it’s what cooking is all about for us.
