When OXO asked me to be a part of their #OXOGoodCookies program, I of course said yes! Not only is OXO one of my favorite home and kitchen brands, but cookies for a cause? Heck yes, sign me up! Here’s more information:
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by two OXOnians (OXO employees) inspired by their 2-year old son’s battle with cancer. It provides inspiration, ideas and support for people everywhere to help fight pediatric cancer.
Today, 25% of children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. There is a direct correlation between increasing research dollars and decreasing mortality rates. Progress has been made, but we are not there yet. This year, OXO will donate up to $100,000 to support research for new and improved therapies. You can help. Bake a difference and join OXO in the movement to find a cure for pediatric cancer.
In 2014, OXO will donate up to $100,000 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer through specially marked baking tools, bake sale matches and other fundraising efforts. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a recognized 501c(3) public charity duly incorporated under the laws of the state of New Jersey. Your donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. 100% of proceeds raised by Cookies for Kids’ Cancer fund pediatric cancer research.
What makes a good cookie? To me, a good cookie has to be chocolate. Hands down, I’m a total chocolate lover so where it’s chocolate chip, double chocolate, or chocolate dipped like these spritz cookies, chocolate has to be present. Milk, dark, or even white chocolate – I love them all.
Today, I’m sharing these Dark Chocolate Dipped Spiced Spritz Cookies. The dough is an odd recipe that I found in Fannie Farmer’s Cookbook, called “Norwegian Butter Cookies”. Don’t let the use of hard boiled egg yolks scare you – after some online research, I discovered on that these cookies are famous and people have been baking them for decades! A quick dip in melted chocolate and a sprinkle of cacao nibs, and you’ve got a cookie that looks like it took ages to make but are actually super simple! Made with the OXO Cookie Press, these cookies are a fun project to make with kids as well.
