These Puff Pastry Cheese Straws are incredibly simple but oh-so-addictive! You’ve been warned, make these at your own discretion. They’re crispy, light, and slightly spiced!
When I warn you that something is addictive, I’m not kidding. I just don’t throw that word around! And these are by far, some of the most addicting cheese straws you’ll ever try. I don’t know if it’s the light puff pastry that shatters the moment you bit down on it, or the smoky sweet paprika, or the salty grated parmesan cheese. Maybe it’s the combination of all three that have deemed them the best ever.
When a recipe uses only three ingredients, make sure you use the best ingredients you can. My deep dark secret is that I adore grated parmesan cheese from those green plastic jars they sell, but have discovered Mama Francesca Cheese and used their original version. Of course my smoked paprika comes from my spice gurus over at Spiceologist! And the puff pastry used here is Pepperidge Farm. The combination of these three brands make one heck of a perfect cheese straw! (Note: none of these brands paid me to say this, it’s just the honest truth!)
As a rule, I tend to always have puff pastry sheets in the freezer for quick recipes like this one. It never fails to impress, whether you use to to make cheese straws, top a chicken pot pie with it, or make a quick dessert recipe! Below is a quick step-by-step on how to make these addictive puff pastry cheese straws.
Puff Pastry Cheese Sticks
Ingredients
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 sheets puff pastry thawed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Stir together the grated parmesan and smoked paprika and place in small baking sheet or plate.
- Cut puff pastry sheets into 1/2 inch wide strips.
- Pat each strip onto the cheese/spice mixture on both sides. Holding the strip by both ends, twist and place on baking tray. Do the same with the rest.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Try not to eat them all in a single sitting.
