This section was pretty popular in 2013 and I’m excited to keep showcasing new products and brands that I find along my travels as well as the ones that end up in my mail box. As a food blogger, I receive a wide variety of products to try on a monthly basis, and “New This Month” is the place where I showcase the best of the best. Get ready for some deliciousness!

Thai Chili-Lime Sauce by Ayara Thai Sauces

“Fresh Thai chili, garlic, tangy lime juice, savory fish sauce, and cane sugar. Crisp and spicy but altogether refreshing – an essential for seafood lovers.” We LOVED this light sauce by Ayara Sauces, packed with so much flavor, that we decided to use it as a quick pickling liquid for thinly sliced beets. Perfect addition to our salads, it perks up any meal! Can’t wait to try some on oysters!

Flip For Flapjacks Pancake Mix by Madhava

Over at our house, we love a good pancake mix. It’s a quick and easy way to get breakfast on the table, plus who doesn’t love a good stack of pancakes?! This pancake mix by Madhava is made with ancient grains like farro, spelt, and kamut, which also means it’s pretty good for you. The addition of natural sweeteners like cane and coconut sugar make the pancakes slightly sweet, but not too sweet. We also love that they are locally made in Colorado!

Warm by Sweet Sunshine

The line of sauces from Sweet Sunshine have us craving summer every time we slather them on and over our meals! The sauces are all natural, vegan, gluten and preservative free, making them the perfect option for a wide variety of diets. We’ve whisked some of the Warm sauce with sautéed peppers and cream, making a delicious sauce for a shrimp dish we hope to share soon.

Belgian Pearl Sugar by Lars Own

If you’ve never had real Belgian Waffles, you’re missing out on one of the best things in life. While visiting my best friend in Missouri, she made us this recipe and we instantly fell in love. She says the recipe is the closest to the original waffles in Belgium, where she lived during her teenage years. What made them perfect was the use of big chunks of Belgian Pearl Sugar. I plan on remaking this recipe for a Valentine’s Day breakfast with my honey and recommend you head on over to Amazon and buy yourself a box!

Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars by Cascadian Farm

These granola bars by Cascadian Farm are seriously the perfect afternoon snack when that chocolate craving hits. Each chewy bar is packed with 8 grams of whole grain, no hydrogenated oils, and no fake flavors! Plus, they’re organic and actually REALLY good. I’ve got a pretty bad sweet tooth, one that always hits 5 minutes after dinner and these bars really keep me off eating endless amounts of sugary desserts.

Garlic Plantain Chips by Turbana

We’ve slowly become a chip family, but we have our differences. The Husband likes potato chips and I stick with corn chips but with these plantain chips by Turbana, we’re on the same team! I grew up eating plantain chips in the Dominican Republic and love them, specially the sweet plantain chips. They come in a variety of flavors, but the Garlic is delicious (oh and so is the lime!) Perfect for dipping into cheesy dips, guacamole, or just snacking by the handful.

Le Matin by Palais Des Thes

Last year, my resolution was to drink one cup of tea a day. Well, let’s just say that resolution only last two weeks. I got tired of the same teas over and over again. Which is where this “le matin” box set by Palais Des Thes comes in. It contains six varieties of teas, perfect for the morning and you choose one depending on your mood (do you need a quick pick me up or a slow rousing?) The teas included are: Thé des Moinesa floral blend inspired by a Tibetan traditional recipe, Grand Yunnan Imperial: a beautiful Chinese black tea, Sencha Ariake: a delicate Japanese green tea, Big Ben: an English blend of black teas, Thé des Lords: an Earl Grey black tea with bergamot, and Gout Russe 7 agrumes: a black tea with citrus fruits.

  1. I love that pearl sugar! I’ve used it before on cinnamon buns. Clearly I need to make more Belgian waffles, too. 🙂 Great way to showcase some special items you’ve tried recently.
