This Autumn Spice Blend is the only spice mix you’ll need this season! Basic enough to use in both pumpkin and apple recipes, but with a special twist to make even the simplest recipes pop with flavor!
This is a basic necessity during the fall season, a blend of warm spices to add to your dishes this time of year. You can call it Pumpkin Pie Spice or Apple Pie Spice, but I call it Autumn Spice Blend! What’s the difference with them all? Well according to the great, all-mighty Wikipedia, Pumpkin Spice is “an American blend of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and allspice“, while Apple Pie Spice is “usually cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice“.
Classic warm spices, they all go so well together and really add depth to not only desserts, but any fall dishes like stews. One of my favorite uses for nutmeg is in cheesy, cream sauces. And who doesn’t love a dash of cinnamon in their hot chocolate?
What makes this Autumn Spice Blend different is the addition of ground vanilla bean. You can purchase ground vanilla bean online on Beanilla or at specialty stores like Williams-Sonoma, but I just had some vanilla beans that were drying out due to age, so I decided to chop the entire bean and throw it in my spice grinder. Voila! The addition of the sweet vanilla beans make for an even more aromatic spice blend. Try this blend in your next muffins, cupcakes, pancakes, or puddings and you’ll be delighted you did!
I hope you enjoy using this spice blend!
