This month’s “New This Month” section is all about beauty products! Sorry for the sway from our regular food postings – if beauty is not your thing, just come back in a few days for a delicious recipe! For the past two months, I’ve completely flipped over my beauty routine and today I’m sharing some of my favorite products I’ve discovered. Slowly but surely I’m moving towards a more organic and natural way to care for my skin and hair and these companies are paving the way for an easy transition!

Breezy Pines Farm

Let’s start local and move our way out: Breezy Pines Farm by my dear friend Heather Thurber. When we visited the farmer’s market a few weeks ago, I decided I needed a few essentials and picked up her Honeycomb Body Butter in Tangerine, Marigold Eye Cream, and Wildflower Oil. I’m HUGE on facial oils; commonly mistaken for making your skin break-out, oils actually balance your natural skin oils. I’ve been slathering face oils for over 6 months and have yet to get one pimple. The Body Butter is divine and nourishes my parched skin, a must have!

100% Pure

If you’re in your early twenties, it’s never too early to start using eye cream. I’ve used eye creams for a good 6 years already and it’s definitely noticeable: I’ve got zero to no crow’s feet or wrinkles around my eyes (thank goodness!) And now that I discovered the 100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream – I’m sticking with it for the next few years! Love that the first ingredient in it is aloe juice, which is such a moisturizing ingredient. The caffeine also helps de-puff under-eye circles.

S. W. Basics of Brooklyn

Between my husband and I, we go through about a tube of lip balm a week, each! Since we both work in a hot kitchen and then spend winters traveling, we count on having our lips survive the heat and cold factors and that’s when S. W. Basics of Brooklyn comes in. This all-natural lip balm contains five ingredients: organic cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, organic beeswax, organic cardamom, and cinnamon oils. It’s refreshing to your lips and pumps so much moisture to your once dry, chapped lips.

tarte cosmetics

Last week, I threw out all my make-up. All of it. I’m a low-maintenance kind of girl when it comes to make-up, so when I saw tarte had a sale for a set of their best-selling products, I went for it! Basically all I needed: foundation, mascara, bronzer, eyeliner, and a lip shine. Made from Amazonian clay and Maracuja oil, this line of products doesn’t contain parabens; it’s also packed with super-fruits, vitamins, minerals, and essential oils. The set is called “what has you make-up done for you lately?

Earth Science Naturals

As a woman working in the kitchen, I tend to prefer fragrance free products in the morning before heading into work. Strong, frangrance-like smells and kitchens don’t mix and this Earth Science Naturals Multi-Theraphy Ceramide Healthy Skin Lotion has become my best friend! It’s packed with natural plant ceramides, lecithin and essential fatty acids “that together for the glycophospholipids that help restore the skin to its optimum state.” It’s paraben free and not tested on animals, which I appreciate. It keeps my skin hydrated throughout a 16-hour day, absorbs quickly and does not feel sticky ever!

Juice Beauty

Once a week I like to give my skin a boost and that’s where Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Peel Full Strength comes in. A “potent alpha and beta hydroxy acid complex from organic apple, lemon, grape, raw cane sugar, and willow bark” it delivers a professional spa treatment in my own home. It’s a strong peel, so be sure to test it out on a small patch of skin before doing your entire face. It does warn you that you’ll see some redness, that’s normal! After my weekly peel, my face feels rejuvenated!

LUSH

My beaten up, burnt, cut, calloused chef hands adore this Lemony Flutter (Cuticle Butter) from Lush. Although I use it not only on my cuticles, but all over my hands. Sure, it’s sticky and take a few minutes to absorb into my skin, but it’s so worth it. Packed with a lemon infusion, avocado oil, mango butter, and lavender oil just to name a few, it really helps with minor cuts, burns, and calloused fingers from holding a knife for 16-hours a day!

  2. Great recommendations! I cleaned house last fall and bought all new makeup that was paraben-free and all natural. Tarte is one of my favorites. I am super interested in the Breezy Pines Farm products… I will have to give them a try. 🙂
