This weekend was the MV Food and Wine Festival and it was a total success; I am so happy to have been a part of it as their Social Media Manager. The Festival brought food and wine lovers from all across the United States, joining forces in educating themselves on wine, sake, food and more!

What I loved the most about it was the intimate setting of it. It wasn’t like a huge Festival were people are pushing to grab the last sip of Merlot, but all the contrary. It was a festival were everyone got to meet and chat with Joseph Carr of Joseph Carr Winery, and even share some cooking tips with Chef Ric Orlando, Food Network’s Chopped Champion.

The Opening Reception was all about Sweet Dessert Pairings, which was a treat for a Friday night.  Restaurants from Boston and MV showcased great desserts in bite-sized pieces, as well as great cognacs, brandies and cordials were served at the bar.

Saturday was the big day, with the Grand Tasting and a Sake Seminar happening. Before our Sake Seminar, we decided to share breakfast at Among the Flowers Cafe and ordered Mimosas, as well as Corned Beef Hash, California Omelet (Caramelized Onions, Avocados, Cheese) and Toast. What’s the best way to prepare your body for a full day of eating and drinking, then with pre-eating and drinking!?

At 11am we headed towards The Boathouse, were the Sake Seminar was to take place. There we met up with Brian Samuels from A Thought for Food and the Hungry Native team, Kelley and Ezra. I’ll be sharing more about the Sake 101 Seminar on Honest Cooking in a few days, so stay tunes for the details on the tasting.

After Sake, we walked around town enjoying the gorgeously sunny Fall day and at 2pm headed to the Field Club in Katama for the Grand Tasting. Here are a few pictures of the event:

The food was fantastic, and focus on local seafood was seen throughout the festival. Stay tuned for some Ceviche recipes directly from Chef Ric Orlando this week! It was a treat to be able to meet so many fantastic people in the food industry, as well as share anecdotes with chefs and wine makers. Stay updated with the MV Food and Wine Festival on their site, and start planning a weekend getaway to Martha’s Vineyard for next year!
