For my first article on Honest Cooking, I contributed a product review of Teamotions, “teas for well-being”. Samples of Teamotions were sent and I was in love with them: the packaging, the smell, the whole flowers and petals in the tea! Wanting to try out a simple recipe that showcased the flavors of the tea, I decided on keeping with the “Beat the Heat Series” and this is my second installment: Passionfruit Jasmine Green Tea Granita. You can read the first of the “Beat the Heat Series” on a delicious sangria recipe by John Clift, Wine Director of Atria Restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard here.

Passionfruit Jasmine Green Tea Granita
1 tablespoon of loose tea
1 pint of water (16 ounces)
1/4 cup tea simple syrup (explained in method underneath)

  1. Pour cool water over tea leaves and steep overnight in fridge.
  2. Next morning, strain tea and reserve 1/4 cup in a small saucepan. Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and dissolve over high heat. Simmer until all sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add the simple syrup to the strained tea and place in shallow dish. Place dish in freezer and scrape ice crystals every 30-45 minutes, depending on your freezer.
  4. Serve along side a cookie or sprinkle some edible petals over it.
  5. Enjoy!

The lovely ladies over at Teamotions want you to also try their wonderful teas, so they’ve generously offered a 10% discount code on all purchases. Enter the code CWB10 and discover their gorgeous variety of teas! The best part is that you can purchase sample sachets to taste and explore all 6 varieties!

Happy Wednesday! What is your favorite granita flavor?
