Martha’s Vineyard has been a summer destination for decades and this year is no different. Whether you’ve been planning your visit to the Vineyard for the past year or want to take a spur of the moment trip, I’m giving you the inside scoop on the latest hotel in Edgartown:

The Christopher by Lark Hotels.

The Christopher Martha's Vineyard Hotel

Getting to Martha’s Vineyard takes a little planning. Some people will book hotels not even knowing we’re an island and they have to take a ferry or flight to get to the island. But the planning is well worth it because what awaits the island-side is an oasis of lobster rolls, beach sunsets, and relaxing.

Martha’s Vineyard has become a destination for a variety of tourists and in my last six years of living here year-round, I’ve seen them all. From single travelers that stay at the hostel to families of six or more that come to enjoy the resorts. But it’s also for the adult couples that are looking to get away for a while and for those, I’m here to recommend The Christopher by Lark Hotels, in Edgartown (the same town I live in!)

A fully renovated 15-room boutique Edgartown hotel that’s bright and very “The Vineyard meets St. Barths” in feel, The Christopher draws from the best of these two beloved islands. Chic yet unpretentious. Luxe yet welcoming. You can’t help but relax and enjoy yourself amidst the stylishly laid-back design!

Recently, I had the chance to spend a couple of hours touring the new hotel in town with the innkeepers and I swooned as each door open. Lark Hotels, known for their colorful aesthetic and whimsical design, delivers just that at the Christopher. Each room is a sonnet written to color – but the great thing is that color can be found in every nook and cranny, starting with their curated small plates breakfast.

It was a melange of tropical fruits, freshly baked goods, butter-slathered pieces of bread, and savory egg dishes that the innkeepers’ Marla and Julie craft every morning for the hotel guests.

And let me tell you, every detail is taken into account, even when they are baking breakfast. Unlike large corporate hotels, The Christopher can really tailor everything to suit their guests needs – whether it’s a food allergy or a hard to get reservation at a popular restaurant.

Their guest interaction is taken very seriously but it’s good to note they don’t even wear name tags. That’s how focused they are – they not only want to learn the guest’s names but for the guests to learn their own names, making the experience more approachable and personalized. Because it’s 100 times easier to approach “Marla” instead of “that random front desk manager that’s busy doing a million things”, don’t you agree?

  1. It really looks like a lovely hotel and I’d love to visit Martha’s Vineyard!

  2. Wow! The rooms are just gorgeous!! 🙂 But I have mixed feelings on the whole name tag thing. I am terrible at remembering people’s actual names, but can recognize a face or remember something that person did for me. I always like name tags so I can just look and know what their name is immediately, lol.

  3. Ahh this hotel is so gorgeous! I’m dying to get back to Martha’s Vineyard!! I owe you a cocktail or three!! xo
