I’m currently still at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut with M, taking part in their Extraordinary Eats! Be sure to head back next week for a recount of the culinary events! In the meantime, enjoy some delicious avocados!
Also known as the Alligator Pear, the avocado is a crucial part of my life. I grew up in a home where we had not one but two avocado trees in the backyard, and when they were in season, we could never keep up. Here’s one of my newest ways to consume it. If you can’t find avocados in your area right now, remember you can always support avocado farms by shopping online at sites like SoCal Avocados or California Avocados Direct. When breading anything, we tend to bread in the simple procedure of a 1-2-3 breader station. It includes flour, eggs, and a coating agent (panko or breadcrumbs); below is a detailed version explaining it:

1-2-3 Breading Station
  1. Seasoned All-Purpose Flour
  2. Whisked eggs with a splash of water and a pinch of salt
  3. Panko or Breadcrumbs

You can use any type of flour you have on hand, and season it with various spices to switch up flavors. Maybe a dash of cumin for a Caribbean twist, or smoked paprika from a Spanish flair. This breading station can be used for any type of breading, from mozzarella to risotto balls. Let your imagination run wild!

  4. As much as I love avocados fresh (with a drizzle of honey!), I’ve been seeing these everywhere, so I’m excited to give them a try – after all, what isn’t better deep-fried? Thanks for the recipe!
